BangPli is a mostly
residential suburb on the south eastern edge of Bangkok.
It
is located in Samut Prakarn, the adjoining province to Bangkok, directly
south
via Sukhumvhit Road or the SkyTrain. It is about 30kms from the central
city,
near the new Suvarnabhumi airport which opened
on 28th September, 2006 .

BangPli is well known for its
annual "Rub Bua" lotus festival held during the Full moon in October.
Traditionally, local people lining both sides of the canal will throw
lotus flowers onto the boat carrying the replica of a Buddha image to
the temple.
There is a parade of elaborately decorated boats and many other
activities to join in.

Samut
Prakarn is located at the mouth
of the Chao Phraya River
(hence "Pak Nam" for river mouth). The area around Samut Prakarn and
BangPli has many tourist attractions worthy of exploration.
